Plant Nursery If you want to start a plant nursery ask your parents if they will let you use a room in their home, maybe a spare bedroom or a corner of the living room. You will have to be able to check on your plants daily and have enough room to make some mess when you are re-potting. Seedlings love morning sun but they should receive shade in the afternoon or they will cook. Drawing the curtains will help to shade them. The location will need good air circulation, a window that opens or a fan. Find a spot near a water supply so you won’t have to drip all over the house when you water your plants.
Once your seedlings sprout their true leaves, fertilize them with Transplanter or Plant Starter Fertilizer for strong, vigorous root development. Harden off your new plants a week before you are ready to put them out in the garden. If you can’t have a plant nursery in the house you could ask your parents for permission to plan a small nursery somewhere in the yard. There are lots of ideas in garden books and magazines. Do a little research before you decide what you want. Always obtain your parents consent before you build anything. They will be willing to assist you to ensure you don’t get hurt and that the plant nursery is SAFE.
